What kind of health and fitness are needed to join the Royal Air Force?

Hello, I'm wanting to join the Royal Air Force as a helicopter pilot or a regiment gunner. I have checked the main website and spoke directly to officers and training instructors. I'm wanting to know if a condition known medical conditions such as asthma could affect my entrance into the RAF. According to the website of the RAF, which is all clear as long as they have not had asthma in the last 4-6 years. But when it comes to pilot training, then it will not be accepted by asthma, even if you have had in the past, but not in 6 years. I spoke with officers, and said that "as long as you have not had an asthma attack in the last 6 years, you can." Can someone clear this for me? Thanks

Its application would be rejected if: * you have asthma, or have done in the past four years, you * have a chronic lung disease such as emphysema, bronchiectasis or cystic fibrosis, or if you have active TB, * who have had spinal surgery or you suffer from recurrent low back pain or spina bifida, * you suffer rheumatoid arthritis or other bone or joint disorder, * you suffer from Crohn's disease, colitis or kidney disorders; * You suffer from epilepsy or multiple sclerosis, * you suffer from chronic blood disease like sickle cell disease, congenital spherocytosis, thalassemia, HIV, AIDS, that carry the hepatitis B or C, or who has had leukemia or lymphoma, * you have schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or PTSD are dependent on alcohol or drugs, * who has had his spleen removed, * you have circulation problems, such as Raynaud's phenomenon or disease * you have diabetes, or * You have a disease that needs long term medication or replacement therapy. Some studies have identified medical restrictions so that even if can be applied to work in a function, you may be able to work in another. Eyesight To some jobs – including pilot – the view must meet certain standards. If you use glasses, you can work for the RAF, but this can affect the functions you can apply. If you are colorblind will not be able to join the RAF as a firefighter, Weapons Technician, Aircraft Technician (Mechanical) or Aircraft Technician (Avionics). To join a pilot or chief engineer, who will make a color perception test. You can not join the RAF if they: * have a chronic eye condition, including glaucoma, keratoconus and retinitis pigmentosa, * have had strabismus surgery in the last six months * have cornea problems such as corneal graft and recurrent corneal ulcers, * have lost or dislocated lens of the eye or its independent of the retina, or * have a cataract or have had cataract surgery.
