Exercise helps to anger management for kids
Parents reading this can not be surprised by the latest findings of a research team School of Medicine in Georgia. The first of its kind study published in the November issue of Pediatric Exercise Science, a professional journal dedicated to increasing our understanding of exercise during childhood, believes that aerobic activity seems to have a significant impact on anger management for children.
In fact, aerobic exercise can be an effective strategy to help overweight children (perhaps even children at any weight) to burn the anger or aggression in a safe, healthy and quite effective. Previous research has shown that exercise helps reduce depression or anxiety in children. Most of us long since come to recognize that exercise can help older people manage stress and burn the bad mood.
The latest research focused on a structured program of aerobic exercise that is related to healthy anger expression in overweight children. The scientists studied 208 generally sedentary 7 – to 11-years of age in 10 to 15 week after school program of aerobic exercise.
The subjects, overweight, but positive than Instead, they were randomly assigned to an aerobic exercise program or instructions to maintain their normal routine inactive. The polls were taken also in expression of anger at the beginning and end of the test using the Pediatric Anger Expression scale measures the common expressions of anger as locking doors and hitting.
The researchers found that Anger and Anger Expression scores were lower for the aerobic exercise group at the end of the probationary period.
"The exercise had a significant impact on the expression of anger in children," said Dr. Catherine Davis, clinical health psychologist at the College Georgia Medical College of Medicine. "This finding indicates that aerobic exercise can be an effective strategy to help overweight children reduce expression of anger and aggressive behavior. "
The finding applies in all areas – regardless of gender, race, socioeconomic level and even at the level of fitness. This serves as another reason for parents, guardians and teachers to children up and moving. Regular exercise seems not only to help with the weight and anger but also may improve cognition and reduce insulin resistance.
This latest research supports the work previously carried out by Dr. Davis suggested that aerobic exercise also helps thinking skills and reduces insulin resistance, a condition known as a precursor to diabetes. And while the increase in the activity helped the study subjects to lose some weight, all of them are still classified as overweight by the end of the investigation.
Backed by a five-year $ 3,600,000 grant by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Dr. Davis is looking to see if this finding is the exercise of a similar group of children who are being studied for the impact of exercise on cognition.
Scientists want to ensure that the exercise, and not other things such as participation in a particular problem after school, resulted in improved scores of anger. Changes in the routine of his time, with parents and siblings far from provoking the fight, TV and violent video games may also have had a positive impact on anger management for children.
